I'm done with the extra lessons i had cause of the uni i want to get in so i can spent time in photoshop yay!
The purpose was to use a photo as a ref and make a story out of it. Without using colour picking and textures while at it.
Also i wanted to make a pic completely in photoshop. It's the first i'm actually completing so i'm kinda proud since it's with a mouse.
So the story is that a trader brought some exotic cigaettes to the queen's court which make your dreams come true (note dreams not ambitions). I wanted to put on the smoke various stuff like lions and lighting bolts and pirate ships but i've already killed my hand for the face orz
Or she's just a drug dealer trying some new opium cigarettes camouflaged as candies. XD

i really liked tokyo jihen's music and style so i wanted to make something out of them. Couldn't get the mouth right so the whole face changed.
Also used this stock for the poppies on her face [link] by
Cheated there a little.
Done while listening to nujabes (thus the title) and the Lola Rennt soundtrack (thus the 'i dont believe) on the smoke.
Anyways, hope you like it! Comments crits you know i love them. And if you want i'd like to hear your story (if i manage to give the pic one)
EDIT _1 Ok i changed some things like removing the i don't believe from the smoke and made the whole thing more sharp fixed the edges repainted her face and stuff like that. Now i think i'm actually happy with this one so i'll try to submit it for a local digital festival. Wish me luck guys!!
EDIT_2 I don't think i will ever be 100% satisfied with this one. Painted her face a little more added more swirls adjusted colours and contrasts.

Technique ImpactI'd like to compliment you on choice of lighting. It brings some special mood.. I can't really defy it.. I love the way you drew her earring and the poppies on her face. The choice of colours is great as well, especially the green of her coat.
What happened to her right eye? Is she blind? Or you just couldn't do it right? I don't judge, it's amazing mouse work in general <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title=" (Wink)"/> You should take more care of that candy, it looks too 2D in comparison for 3D of the rest of the image.
words in the smoke should be more 'smoky' and the smoke should be more transparent.
I love the story behind it. Maybe you could develop it more, and make a serial of images ? Even if you don't do it, it's still good when you can take a step further with something you created, it means it has potential.
